The crimes of Palestinians against history, religion and civilization By Victor Sharpe February 26, 2019

The crimes of Palestinians against history, religion and civilization

By Victor Sharpe  February 26, 2019

The continuing destruction of the holy Temple Mount by the Muslim Wakf.
Joseph Goebbels, Nazi Germany’s Minister of Propaganda infamously said: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” He told lies about the hapless European Jews and millions of Germans and other Europeans eagerly believed them and willingly participated in the Holocaust.
Another such miscreant, the late and unlamented Egyptian born arch-terrorist, Yasser Arafat, spewed many canards, but one which has been repeated relentlessly by the Arabs who call themselves Palestinians is that there were no Jewish Temples on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, thus rejecting the Hebrew Bible and faith based history that Jews and Christians revere.
Other Palestinian Arab ‘notables’ such as the once Chief Palestinian Justice, Sheik Taysir Tamimi, had declared the Jewish Temples “never existed.” And even the Palestinian so-called moderate whom the Leftists and gullible liberals love to love, Sari Nusseibeh, made the preposterous and malicious claim that “the historical ties and attachments of the Palestinians precede any Israeli claim to Jerusalem.” Well, when Islamic preachers teach children that Abraham, Moses and Jesus were not Jews but Muslims you have to conclude that it’s loony tunes time.
The Temple Mount in Jerusalem is the most sacred site of the Jewish people and of the Jewish faith. It is the very place King David made his capital some 3,000 years ago and where he built the sanctuary for the Ark of the Covenant. It is where his son, King Solomon, built the first Temple, destroyed centuries later by the Babylonians in 586 BCE, and where the Second Temple was completed in 515 BCE by Zerubbabel, centuries later to be destroyed by Rome in 70 CE.
The very name, Jerusalem, Yerushalayim in Hebrew, interchangeable with Zion, has always been the source of Jewish yearning and prayer down the dark centuries of exile and persecution. For those Jews not living in the ancestral homeland, (and there were always Jewish communities in the land maintaining whatever numbers they could sustain under successive alien occupations), their prayers expressed the longing to return to Zion and to rebuild the eternal Jewish capital. It is not by accident that wherever in the world a synagogue stands, it faces Jerusalem.
At the conclusion of Israel’s defensive war against Arab aggression in June, 1967 and the reunification of Jerusalem, which had been divided since the 1948 illegal Jordanian occupation of the eastern half of the city, the leftwing Israeli Defense Minister, Moshe Dayan, committed a profound and calamitous error.
Dayan believed that showing friendship to the Muslim aggressors by giving the Waqf – the erstwhile Jordanian Muslim religious authorities – the keys to the Temple Mount, they would reciprocate and Jews, Muslims and Christians would worship in peaceful harmony on the Mount. It was a monumental mistake, for the Islamic Waqf predictably chose to immediately discriminate against any signs of Jewish and Christian prayer on the Temple Mount. The holiest Jewish site in the world under the Waqf practically became judenrein (absent of Jewish life).
Giulio Meotti, a journalist with the Italian newspaper, Il Foglio, wrote in 2012: “The Waqf is now attempting to deliberately destroy all archaeological evidence of Jewish presence on this site, while using terror and intimidation to impose its exclusive claim to the Temple Mount. The Waqf has removed every visible sign of ancient Jewish existence upon the site. At the entrance, a Waqf sign says ‘The Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard and everything in it is Islamic property.’
“Today Jews are barred from praying on the Mount and are not even allowed to carry any holy articles or Bibles with them. With Muslim observers supervising visits, Israeli police, to their shame, have frequently arrested Jews for various “violations,” such as singing or reciting a prayer even in a whisper.
“This week, a Jewish woman was arrested following claims by police and Waqf officials that they noticed she was praying on the Temple Mount. Why is it a crime for a Jew to pray to God on the Temple Mount? And why is the State of Israel complicit in enforcing this anti-Semitic rule?”
Since that earlier article by Mr. Meotti, Jewish pilgrimage onto the Temple Mount now takes place regularly, but outward signs of prayer is still forbidden for fear of offending the Muslims.
An Indian Hindu friend of mine expressed to me his astonishment that Jews are not allowed to build their Temple again on their holiest site. He pointed out that growing up in India, people always knew that Jerusalem is to the Jews what Mecca is to the Muslims and Varanasi is to the Hindus.
Tragically, Israeli leaders are still terrified of upsetting the Muslim world and this very timidity and fear allows for triumphalist and tyrannical Islam to commit unspeakable crimes against civilization and history. What do I mean by that? Consider:
What may well be one of the worst ongoing crimes against human history and civilization is the ruthless and relentless destruction of Jewish and Christian antiquities by the Muslim authorities, the Waqf, who, as I earlier pointed out, were foolishly given permission to control the Temple Mount in 1967. Remember the Taliban destruction of the 2,500 year old statues of Buddha in Afghanistan? It is the same Muslim arrogance and hatred for all other religions. Remember Islamic State (ISIS) and its wholesale destruction of antiquities in Iraq and Syria? Anything non-Muslim is fair game to such barbarians.
On the Temple Mount, the Islamic Waqf soon began using heavy bulldozers to dig up the ground in order to build yet another mosque, in addition to the two existing mosques Muslim conquerors had built over the site of the two Biblical Jewish Temples. Despite Israeli protests, they are still building under the Mount, and in the process deliberately desecrating tons of precious archaeologically rich soil. One archaeologist described the disturbed sites as “an archaeological crime” and “an assault upon Jewish and Christian history.”
Funded by the City of David Foundation, and directed by Professor Gabriel Barkai, Israeli and other archeologists and volunteers desperately began searching through the tons of earth and rubble which had been unceremoniously dumped by the Muslim Authorities in the nearby Kidron Valley.
The intrepid archaeologists and their helpers from around the world uncovered thousands of rare and important artifacts from the First and Second Temple periods, as well as from Roman and Byzantine periods, among them a rare bulla dating from the First Temple Period.
But each precious find, ripped and torn from its age old location upon the Temple Mount by Palestinians, fatally compromises what archaeologists can tell us: a most grievous and barbarous sin against history and civilization.
The catastrophe is continuing even now as the Muslim Waqf and Palestinian Authority continue remorselessly desecrating and gleefully destroying evidence of Judeo-Christian civilization and faith upon Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.
In 2003, after witnessing the Waqf’s horrific destruction of Jewish antiquities and ancient buildings on the Temple Mount, Israel sealed off the area behind the Gate of Mercy or Golden Gate to prevent a recurrence of such barbaric vandalism. According to Jewish tradition, Sha’ar HaRachamim (the Gate of Mercy) is the gate through which the Messiah will come. Centuries ago, during the time of Suleiman and the subsequent 400 year old Ottoman Turkish occupation of the land, Muslim authorities deliberately have buried their dead in front of the gate in the belief it would prevent the Messiah’s coming.
Ezequiel Doiny is author of “Obama’s assault on Jerusalem’s Western Wall.” In a recent article published in Israel National News and dated February 22, 2019, he reported that hundreds of Arabs, ostensibly arriving for Friday prayers and likely encouraged by the Palestinian Hamas terror organization which occupies Gaza, violently breached the area behind the Golden Gate. They forced their way into the site that had been protected for 16 years from earlier Muslim depredations upon the Temple Mount. Their acts of desecration had at that time led to the appalling and horrifying destruction of priceless archaeological remains. The horror may be beginning again.
An earlier fateful and egregious concession to the Palestinians was made in 1996 when, for the sake of peaceful relations, Israel allowed the Muslim Waqf to build yet another mosque in the Salomon Stables area of the Temple Mount. Here, repeated again and again by Israeli authorities in fruitless attempts to calm ravening mobs of rioting Palestinians, concessions have only led to more and more Arab violence, destruction and demands. http://www.templemount.org/stables.html
In the same article, Mr. Doiny reported on further despoliations and atrocious behavior by the Islamic Waqf and the Palestinian Authority:
On December 15, 2017, Nadav Shragai wrote in Israel Hayom that, “King Herod’s grand Third Palace is being systematically destroyed by the Palestinians, who are stripping its stone and building homes around it. The site is in Area A, meters from Israeli-controlled territory, but the Israeli government can do nothing…Here is a lesson that teaches us how the Palestinians today treat remnants of the past…It is unclear how much of this beauty remains.”
The so-called Oslo Peace Accords require Israel and the Palestinian Authority to abide by the terms agreed upon. Israel conforms to the agreements while the PA blatantly continues to flout them while at the same creating illegal facts on the ground. The U.N and the EU consistently look away, ignoring the outrages, and even funding illegal Arab construction in Israeli administered Area C.
Area A, B and C consist of the tiny territory which constitutes the very Jewish Biblical heartland known from the Bible as Judea and Samaria. It is also still regrettably known by the name given to it during its illegal Jordanian Arab occupation, the West Bank. This Jordanian invasion took place during the Arab-Israel War of 1948 during which Jewish villagers along with residents of Jerusalem’s Old City were brutally driven out of their homes and lands by the Arab Legion.
The ancient Jewish Quarter of the Old City was ravaged, 58 Jerusalem synagogues – some centuries old – were destroyed or ruined, others were turned into stables and chicken coops. Slum dwellings were built abutting the Western Wall and the Jewish gravestones on the ancient Mount of Olives were desecrated, many used by the Arab Legion as latrines. The malign Jordanian occupation lasted 19 long years until 1967 when the territory was finally liberated during the Six Day War.
Yaron Rosenthal, director of the Kfar Etzion Field School, finds it difficult to hide his anger at what has happened to Herod’s Third Palace.
“Israel sees how one of the grandest palaces ever built in the Holy Land is being destroyed, and is standing by helplessly, because under the Oslo Accords the site, which is 30 meters from Area C, was made the responsibility of the Palestinians. It’s time for Israel to say, ‘No more.’ With all due respect to the Oslo Accords, we will not let you destroy important archaeological remains linked to the history of the Jewish people in their land; remains that are part of the cultural fabric of this country,”
On Jan 6, 2018, Hebrew University archaeology doctoral student, Haggai Cohen Klonymus, described to the Israel News Company (formerly Channel 2 TV) how Palestinian tractors and bulldozers arrived at an archaeological site where the ancient city of Archelaus once stood. “The Palestinians completely leveled the compound in order to locate hidden archaeological treasures to sell in the antiquities black market. Just as ISIS destroyed sites in Iraq and Syria that were thousands of years old, the same situation is occurring here. This is a deliberate and systematic destruction of an archaeological site….It’s just a tragedy.”
In 2000, the Palestinians destroyed Biblical Joseph’s tomb. Writing for the Los Angeles Times, Sidney Brounstein wrote:
“Where is the outrage? Imagine what would have happened if Jewish police stood by and allowed a Muslim holy place to be destroyed! Does the destruction of a Jewish holy place by an Arab Muslim mob while Palestinian police stand by (after promising to protect it) deserve no more than inclusion in a list of other damage done by rioters? Is this an acceptance of attacks on Jews and things Jewish as a normal part of life?” The answer is increasingly, yes!
As Ezequel Doiny writes: “It makes a mockery of any thought of giving Palestinian Arabs any control of Jewish or Christian holy places. The destruction of dozens of such places in the Old City of Jerusalem from 1948 to 1967, when the Jordanian Arabs illegally occupied the eastern half of the City, along with excluding Jews entirely from their most holy sites, was clearly of a piece with the current destruction.”
Let me end by repeating what I wrote earlier:
“The catastrophe is continuing even now as the Muslim Waqf and Palestinian Authority continue remorselessly desecrating and gleefully destroying evidence of Judeo-Christian civilization and faith upon Jerusalem’s Temple Mount.”
One can only shudder at what discoveries of profound spiritual and historical importance have already been destroyed and lost.
Let me also add: Where is the conscience of the civilized world? Where is the thunderous shout of ‘NO MORE’ from the world’s non-Muslim heads of state? Where, indeed!

While Israel preserves Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock, Arabs have proven that they cannot be trusted to respect Jewish Holy sites.
On February 22, 2019 Arutz Sheva reported “Hundreds of Arabs arriving for Friday prayers breached the Golden Gate and entered the site.” Palestinian Arabs clashed with Israeli police on Jerusalem’s Temple Mount, trying to force their way into an area that has been closed for 16 years. The incident follows a similar confrontation the same week.
The area near the Gate of Mercy, or Golden Gate, was sealed by Israeli authorities in 2003 and it has been kept closed to stop illegal construction work there by the Waqf, which Israeli officials believe has led to the destruction of antiquities from periods of Jewish presence in the area.”
The Arabs shouted incitement against Jews and breached the area…”
On February 19, 2019 Lenny Ben David tweeted “… Clashes between Palestinians and Israeli police recently took place around the Bab al-Rahma – a large structure inside the Golden Gate that police closed off in 2003 and that the Islamic Waqf wants reopened. According to Jewish tradition, Sha’ar HaRachamim is the gate through which the Messiah will come… .”
“A rare photo from 1900 from the Library of Congress, captioned ‘Interior of Golden Gate,’ shows a room with massive columns. The gate dates back to the 7th-8th century CE and was built over an earlier gate. A photo shows the top of the arch of the earlier gate…What’s inside the sealed gates between the walls? Rare picture I found circa 1900 suggests that the room and/or columns date back to the Temple. No wonder, the Wakf wants to build a mosque there between the walls…”
See pictures of the Golden Gate (1900) from the Library of Congress in the links below…
The reason why the Golden Gate was sealed by Israeli authorities in 2003 was because the Islamic Waqf was destroying Jewish Archeological remains in Temple Mount as described and documented below.
Netanyahu made a concession to the Palestinians since 1996 when he allowed them to build a mosque in the Salomon Stables area in Temple Mount. On October 1996 templemount.org reported “Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu instructed Israeli authorities not to block the opening of a mosque at Solomon’s Stables, an area underneath the Temple Mount, Ha’aretz reported. The decision reportedly took into consideration security assessments which determined that any attempts to reverse construction work at the site would spark a new round of rioting…” please see http://www.templemount.org/stables.html
Netanyahu’s permission to build a Mosque at Solomon’s Stables enabled the Waqf to destroy Jewish Archaeological remains during Ehud Barack’s government a few years later.
Until 1948 Jews were a majority of the population in Jerusalem. On December 11, 2017 Amb. Dore Gold wrote in the Jerusalem Center of Public Affairs “By the mid-19th century, the British Consulate in Jerusalem made the following determination, according to this report, which I found in the Public Record Office in Kew, it states that Jews were a majority in Jerusalem, when? already in 1863 – that’s long before Theodor Herzl, before the Britt’s arrived, or Lord Balfour. See the guy on the right, William Seward, he was Secretary of State of the United States during the American civil war, under President Abraham Lincoln. When Seward’s term ended, he visited the holy land, he visited Jerusalem. And he wrote a memoir. And in his memoir, it is written, “There is a Jewish majority in Jerusalem.”
See William Seward, Travels Around the World (1873)
Jews were expelled from Jerusalem’s old city by the Jordanian Arab legion in 1948 through ethnic cleansing. Between 1948 and 1967 while Jordan occupied Jerusalem’s old city, dozens of synagogues were destroyed, thousands of tombstones were desecrated in the Mount of Olives Cemetery and Jews were not allowed to pray in the Western Wall.
The Jewish Virtual Library reports “Before the United Nations voted in favor of the Partition Plan on November 29, 1947, the Arab Legion of Jordan attacked Jerusalem. Their forces blocked Jerusalem’s roads and cut off the city’s access to water. After bitter fighting, the Jewish Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City fell to the vastly superior arms and numbers of the Arab Legion. The surviving Jewish inhabitants fled to the “New City,” the four-fifths of the capital that Israel successfully held. The Old City, including the Jewish Quarter, officially fell to Jordan on May 27, 1948.”
“Nearly twenty years later, during the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel’s army liberated Jerusalem’s Old City, finding the area completely neglected and virtually destroyed. … All but one of the thirty five synagogues within the Old City were destroyed; those note completely devastated had been used as hen houses and stables filled with dung-heaps, garbage and carcasses. The revered Jewish graveyard on the Mount of Olives was in complete disarray with tens of thousands of tombstones broken into pieces to be used as building materials and large areas of the cemetery leveled to provide a short-cut to a new hotel. Hundreds of Torah scrolls and thousands of holy books had been plundered and burned to ashes…”
But the Arabs not only destroyed tombstones at Mount of Olives and synagogues in Jerusalem, they also destroyed Jewish archaeological remains in Temple Mount.
This is an excerpt from Mark Twain’s “The Innocents Abroad” describing his visit to the Mosque of Omar and the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem in 1867: “Everywhere about the Mosque of Omar are portions of pillars, curiously wrought altars, and fragments of elegantly carved marble – the precious remains of Solomon’s Temple…see the costly marbles that once adorned the inner Temple…the designs wrought upon these fragments are all quaint and peculiar…one meets with these venerable scraps at every turn, specially in the neighboring mosque Al Aqsa, into whose inner walls a very large number of them are carefully built for preservation.”
“These pieces of stone, stained and dusty with age, dimly hint at a grandeur we have all been taught to regard as the princeliest ever seen on earth; and they call up pictures of a pageant that is familiar to all imaginations – camels laden with spices and treasure – beautiful slaves, presents for Solomon’s harem – a long cavalcade of richly caparisoned beasts and warriors – and Sheba’s Queen in the van of this prison of Oriental Magnificence. These elegant fragments bear a richer interest than the solemn vastness of the stones the Jews kiss in the place of wailing can ever have for the heedless sinner.”
“Down in the hollow ground, underneath the olives and oranges trees that flourish in the court of the great mosque , is a wilderness of pillars – remains of the ancient Temple, they supported it. There are ponderous archways down there…we never dreamed we might see portions of the actual Temple of Solomon…”
If Mark Twain saw this archaeological remains in 1867. where are they now? The Jewish Temple was not only destroyed by the Romans 2000 years ago, it continues tp be destroyed by the Arabs today. If the Palestinian Arabs assume responsibility over the site they will have freedom to destroy much more.
Journalist Ilan Ben Zion reported in December 2012: “The Muslim authority managing the Temple Mount on Sunday dumped tons of unexamined earth and stones excavated from the holy site into a municipal dump, in violation of a High Court injunction, Maariv (Hebrew Daily, ed.) reported on Monday.” Israel’s top court in September 2004 prohibited removal of earth from the Temple Mount and ruled that, should it be necessary [to do so], the Antiquities Authority must be notified a month in advance so it may examine the earth for artifacts.”
“Jews regard the Temple Mount as their holiest site, where the First and Second Temple were located. Muslims call it the Noble Sanctuary and regard it as their third holiest site after Mecca and Medina. According to the existing arrangement, the Jerusalem Islamic Waqf, or trust, administers the Temple Mount complex. Despite the High Court of Justice’s ruling, the Waqf has reportedly removed large piles of dirt from the Temple Mount in recent years and dumped them in the valley east of the Old City walls, provoking an outcry from biblical archaeologists and Jewish groups.
“Tzachi Dvira, the archaeologist managing the team that sifts through soil excavated from the Temple Mount, told Maariv that mounds of earth containing historic relics were carted off and dumped on Sunday without notification and before archaeologists could investigate them… Soil from the Temple Mount that had been removed by the Waqf to the Kidron Valley in recent years has yielded “tens of thousands of finds, including signet rings from the First Temple era, painted floor tiles from the Second Temple era, ancient gold coins, and horseshoe nails and arrowheads belonging to the Knights Templar, who stabled their horses in Solomon’s Stables,” Dvira said.
Suzanne Singer, a contributing editor to the Biblical Archeological Review reported in September 2000 “Large-scale illegal construction on the Temple Mount and wholesale dumping of earth in the nearby Kidron Valley resumed this spring…”
“… The Temple Mount is, of course, sacred to three great Western faiths and is part of the world’s cultural patrimony. Here may lie remnants from the time of the First Temple of Solomon, the Second Temple built by Herod, the Byzantine period and the early Islamic eras. Israeli excavations around the exterior of the Temple Mount since 1967 have found remains from all these periods, but the Mount itself has been terra incognita, protected by an understanding between Israel and the Waqf that says no construction will take place there… ”
“…Last November, we reported that the Waqf, in the dead of night, had dumped hundreds of truckloads of earth from the Temple Mount into the Kidron Valley and municipal garbage dumps. About 6,000 tons of earth were removed …Despite the flagrant disregard by the Waqf of the requirement for IAA supervision, there was no serious response by Israeli authorities. Today the dumped earth is unprotected and is being covered with garbage, making it unlikely that the IAA will ever act on its announced intention to salvage artifacts by sifting through the piles.”
“…This spring and early summer, trucks and tractors returned to the Temple Mount, bringing building materials in and carting earth away through the Lions’ Gate, just north of the Temple Mount. For 200 yards along the inside of the Temple Mount’s eastern wall, from the al-Marawani Mosque’s new entrance to somewhat south of the Golden Gate, lie stacks of paving stones, scaffolding, wood and iron materials, along with large architectural fragments, such as pieces of ancient columns… ”
” …The construction on the Temple Mount is only the latest, albeit perhaps the most egregious, example of the Waqf’s disregard for the protection of antiquities. In 1993 Israel’s Supreme Court found that the Waqf had violated the country’s antiquities laws no less than 35 times, with many of the violations causing the irreversible destruction of archaeological remains.”
“…Due to Prime Minister Barak’s concern for negotiations with the Palestinians, no effective archaeological oversight is taking place on the Temple Mount. No one halts the work so that potential damage can be assessed and prevented; as a result, heavy equipment is free to move about the Mount for projects that are neither approved nor supervised. The frequently heard view is that a tough stance by Israel will enflame the Palestinians and set back the peace talks…”
While Israel preserves Al-Aqsa and the Dome of the Rock, Arabs have proven that they cannot be trusted to respect Jewish Holy sites.
On December 15, 2017 Nadav Shragai wrote in Israel Hayom “King Herod’s grand Third Palace is being systematically destroyed by the Palestinians, who are stripping its stone and building homes around it. A 487 million Muslim “collapse” on NATO’s southeast flank By Mark Langfan, INN

A 487 million Muslim “collapse” on NATO’s southeast flank

Everybody has heard the Hans Christian Andersen story of the little Dutch boy who saves his country from being flooded by putting his finger in the dike all night, despite the cold, until the adults come and make the necessary repairs.  Well, in the dystopian, Jew-hating world we live in, Europe’s dirty little secret is that Israel is militarily keeping a wave of over 487 million Muslims from militarily attacking into the south-under belly of NATO’s southeast border of Greece, Italy, and South France.
Instead of the “adult” European countries coming to Israel’s aid, they are attacking the only Western country with an army protecting them from a virtually unstoppable military advance by a half a billion Muslims with over 50% of the world’s oil resources.  Thankfully, Israeli PM Netanyahu has just exposed Europe’s secret to the light when he proclaimed: “If Israel wasn’t here, the Middle East would collapse.”  I will add that the 487 Million Muslims of the Middle East would “collapse” right on the South-East doorstep of NATO’s Greece, Italy, and France.  Now that would be true Biblical karma.
What is “Biblical karma,” you ask? Biblical karma is Genesis 12:1–3:

"Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”"
One would have thought that the collective of Europe would have learned about and learned from the Biblical karma following their collective mass-murder of 6 million Jews in World War II.  Europe murdered 6 million Jews who would have invented the modern world for Europe, and instead imported over 6 million rampaging Jihading Muslims into their cities to rape their women and create tens of no-go Muslim-only zones.  But, alas, Europe either has not learned its Jew-hating lesson, or Europe’s Jew-Haters want to try to erase the history of the Holocaust by erasing Israel altogether.
Either way, Europe clearly attempting to disable Israel’s defenses, and enable an Israeli Holocaust.
Let’s walk step-by-step through PM Netanyahu’s “Middle East would collapse without Israel” analysis, and how it is Europe’s curse.  Those that claim “Israel is the cause of instability in the Middle East”  make Israeli/Jewish Leftists automatically think they mean Israel after the 1967 War with the ‘West Bank’ as the “cause of instability in the Middle East”.  But they aren’t really listening to these Jew/Israel haters.  Any Muslim or European arguing “Israel is the cause of instability in the Middle east” really means that 1948 Israel is the the cause of instability.  To their minds, if one eradicated Israel, one would have “stability in the Middle East.”
So, for the sake of discussion, let’s try a “Newtonian Thought Experiment” of what would actually happen if Iran got ts wish  Apart from 6 Million massacred Jews, what would likely happen?  Well, first thing is Hezbollah/Iran/Syria would get northern Israel and Egypt would get southern Israel, and one would never hear about a Palestinian State ever again.  Iran essentially runs Lebanon and that’s a country with a real Army of sorts.  The “Palestinians” don’t have the military strength or reason to “create a Palestine.”  The only reason a Palestinian State is an issue now is as a lever to annihilate Israel.  With Israel gone, “Palestine’s” raison d’etre evaporates.
Next, what of Jordan, and its pathetic little King Abdullah?  Since 1967, Israel has been protecting Jordan from Syria.  Without Israel, who’s going to protect the King Abdullah of Jordan from Syria, Iran, or Hezbollah?Nobody.  In fact, Jordan is Middle East road-kill without Israel.  As a reminder, Jordan is also road-kill the minute there’s a Palestine State.  But, that’s a different issue for a different day.
I’ve been plying those two inescapable steps for 25 years from the Pentagon to Cyprus officials to NATO to Arab military, and every person I’ve ever met has said “Absolutely no question – no Israel means no Palestine, a larger Egypt and Syria, and Jordan disappears to either Syria/Iran or an ISIS.  What next??  Saudi Arabia, the world’s richest country, gets two new northern neighbors: 1) Egypt, with a population of 100 Million, the poorest country in the Middle East, and the largest conventional army in the Middle East, that also controls the Suez Canal, and 2) Syria/Iran/Hezbollah, who want nothing other than to free their “Shi’ite” Arab brethren from Sunni bondage in Eastern Saudi Arabia where all the Saudi oil is located.
With Egypt and Hezbollah/Syria/Iran on Saudi Arabia’s northern border, does anyone see “stability” in this picture?  No!  Egypt controls the Suez Canal.  If Egypt attacks Saudi Arabia, how is anyone going to move military forces through the Suez Canal to save Saudi Arabia if Egypt controls the Suez Canal?  Saudi Arabia will disappear faster than one can say “Hummus.”  So, not only is there no stability, there are blood-letting wars for as far as the eye can see until one Islamist country eventually is ruthless and murderous enough to rule the whole Middle East.  Then, once the real Islamist Caliphate is fully erected, next stop Greece.  Or, maybe really Cyprus will be the first stop because it is so insignificant.  Cyprus’ entire population of about 1 million Christians is less than the combined standing armies of Turkey and Egypt.  Good luck Cyprus.
Israel, in sum, is preventing a Middle East Islamic “collapse” that will implode, murder, repeat, and implode, murder, repeat, until it explodes unto the curse of the South East flank of NATO.  By then, NATO will have nothing to stop the Islamic caliphate from wiping Western Europe off the face of the earth.  Biblical karma is unforgiving.  But, Europe will deserve every bit of the Genesis’ Biblical Curse for its evil in helping the Muslims try to annihilate Israel.

REPORT FROM THE PEACE TO PROSPERITY WORKSHOP BY RICHARD SANDLER | Jewish Journal JUL 5, 2019

REPORT FROM THE PEACE TO PROSPERITY WORKSHOP

BY RICHARD SANDLER |  Jewish Journal JUL 5, 2019

I have read much about the Peace to Prosperity Workshop in Bahrain, and the economic plan that Jared Kushner, senior adviser to President Donald Trump, presented at that workshop. Most of what I have read or heard is far different from what I witnessed in Bahrain.

I attended the entire workshop, read the plan and moderated a panel on “Unleashing Economic Potential” of the West Bank, Gaza and the surrounding region. Clearly, if the Peace to Prosperity Plan is successful, it will transform the region, improve millions of lives and bring peace to the people who live in the region. I don’t understand why so many are unfairly attacking a plan that was so well received at the workshop and that the White House appears so committed to making work.

Kushner opened the workshop with a very focused and thorough presentation of the plan and its goals. The plan addresses in great detail exactly how the money would be invested, where it would be invested (the West Bank, Gaza, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan — a truly regional plan) and the measurable outcomes to be expected from the plan. The plan is based on extensive research and an attempt to learn from past efforts that have and haven’t been successful in this region and elsewhere. For example, the plan states that it is based on the study of business-friendly countries that had built modern economies with an emphasis on investment-led growth such as South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan and Japan; models used by Germany and Sweden to train, develop and employ men and women as business and civic leaders; countries that had used strategic locations to flourish as regional financial hubs such as Dubai and Singapore; and lessons from Poland from the 1990s and, more recently, Egypt and Tunisia, where enterprise funds have had proven success promoting growth by using public sector seed money for investment funds targeting private equity and credit.

If the Peace to Prosperity Plan is successful, it will transform the region, improve millions of lives and bring peace to the people who live in the region.

Kushner’s presentation was followed a discussion titled “The Time is Now: Building a Coalition for Middle East Prosperity” featuring Stephen Schwarzman, chairman and CEO of New York-based investment firm Blackstone, and Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of United Arab Emirates-based Emaar Properties PJSC. Schwarzman and Alabbar could not have been more positive or optimistic about the plan and its goals. This environment of optimism and goodwill continued with every panel throughout the workshop and in the conversations during lunch and in the hallways.

The final session was a discussion lead by U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin with his colleagues from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, again emphasizing support of the plan as a regional strategy with a key element being private-sector investment and a business climate that will encourage such investment.

In between, attendees heard from the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, the president of the World Bank, the chairman and CEO of AT&T, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and many other experienced business leaders and government officials from various countries. Participants at the workshop included a number of Israeli and Palestinian businessmen.

I had the privilege of moderating the panel titled “Unleashing Economic Potential” with Christine Lagarde, managing director of the International Monetary Fund and who is poised to become the next president of the European Central Bank; Mohammed Al-Sheikh, minister of state, member of the Council of Ministers and member of the Council of Economic Development Affairs for Saudi Arabia, who also during his career worked at the World Bank; Tony Elumelu, an experienced and accomplished investor and banker from Nigeria and founder of the Tony Elumelu Foundation; and Willem Buiter, special economic adviser to Citigroup, former chief economist at Citigroup, as well as an experienced economist with expertise in finance and political economy. Each of the panelists made it clear that the plan had the proper focus to provide adequate capacity building, as well as policy initiatives to provide a reliable rule of law and property rights where there could be a free flow of investment, people and materials.

An environment of optimism and goodwill continued with every panel throughout the workshop and in the conversations during lunch and in the hallways.

The panelists discussed successes and failures that they had seen in their own and other countries. The plan provides for infrastructure development in the areas of transportation, water, health and education. One of the most valuable resources of the area is a highly intelligent, young work force. It was pointed out that in the 1990s, a similar effort to provide economic opportunity in the region did prove successful without private investment; and if there were successes 25 years ago with little private investment before a fading hope for peace, the plan could be and should be successful now with far broader participation as long as the people of the region feel included, respected and that there is a real hope of a meaningful future with peace, dignity and prosperity. This will require goodwill by all involved including private, public, international organizations, the parties on the ground and their neighbors.

I left the workshop with far more optimism than I had when I arrived. I commented that the plan and the remarks by so many of the panelists prompted me to recall the teachings of my dear friend and teacher Rabbi Harold Schulweis (z”l), who used to talk about “is” and “ought.” He would say “is” faces me toward the present, “ought” turns me toward the future. “Ought” challenges my creative imagination, opens me to the realm of possibilities and to responsibilities to realize yesterday’s dreams. Without “is,” the genius of our past and present collective wisdom is forgotten. “Ought” demands not only knowledge of history, but of exciting expectation. “Is” is a being; “ought” is a becoming.

The Peace to Prosperity Plan is all about moving from what “is” to what “ought” to be. With bold leadership and a will to succeed, the plan has a chance and would forever transform that region. I wish more of the commentators could focus less on what has been and more on what could be. I see no downside and tremendous upside in supporting the White House’s Peace to Prosperity Plan. I commend Jared Kushner and Jason Greenblatt, Trump’s special representative on international negotiations, on the thought and effort behind this plan, and remain hopeful that this plan can be successful, where other attempts haven’t been.

IRAN’S CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL WEAPONS PROGRAMS: AN UNDER-APPRECIATED THREAT

June 26, 2019 | Alan Goldsmith

As policymakers continue to focus on Iran’s nuclear and ballistic-missile programs, they aren’t paying enough attention to another danger—Tehran’s pursuit of chemical and biological weapons (CW and BW, respectively). The regime has operated—and may still carry on with—CW and BW programs, but much of the credible open-source reporting on them is several years old. The Trump administration has taken some good initial steps to publicize Iran’s CW program. The United States and other responsible nations should build on those steps by providing updated public assessments (redacting sensitive material, as necessary) of these programs, and announce and implement a policy focused on eliminating this threat.

Chemical Weapons (CW)

Initial Development until the Mid-1990s

Iran initiated its CW program during the Iran-Iraq War (1980–1988), during which Iraq repeatedly used CW. There are conflicting reports about whether Iran used CW during the war. A U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency declassified document from 1990 stated that "Iran used chemical weapons late in the war, but never as extensively or successfully as Iraq."

In November 1998, Mohammad R. Alborzi, director general of the Iranian foreign ministry, finally admitted that Iran had possessed CW near the end of the war, though he claimed the program was terminated after the end of the conflict. However, the U.S. Department of Defense reported that Tehran produced its first chemical agent in 1984, and it aggregately developed "a minimum several hundred tons of blister, blood, and choking agents."

A 1995 article in Jane’s Intelligence Review claimed Iran may then have had as much as 2,000 tons of chemical agents, including nerve agents. GlobalSecurity.org reports that:

Iran was believed to have manufactured weapons for blister, blood, and choking agents. It was also believed to be conducting research on nerve agents. Iran was working on developing a self-sufficient CW production capacity that included more effective nerve agents. Along with its shell and bomb delivery systems, Iran was also thought to have been producing CW warheads for its Scud missile systems. Its production capacity was estimated at as much as 1000 tons a year, with major production facilities located at Damghan, 300 km east of Tehran. Other facilities were believed to be located at Esfahan, Parchin and Qazvin.

Iran’s CW Program After Joining the Chemical Weapons Convention

Iran signed the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) in January 1993 and ratified it in November 1997, and the treaty came into force in December of that year. In joining the convention, Iran, like other states that are parties to the CVC, committed never to “develop, produce, otherwise acquire, stockpile or retain chemical weapons, or transfer, directly or indirectly, chemical weapons to anyone; to use chemical weapons; [t]o engage in any military preparations to use chemical weapons; [or] to assist, encourage or induce, in any way, anyone to engage in any activity prohibited” to other states parties to the CVC.

The Iranian government claimed it had destroyed its CW program before the treaty took effect. However, as the Nuclear Threat Initiative notes, Tehran has never publicly disclosed details of that program. Iran reported to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which implements the CWC, that it had operated only one CW production facility, and had shuttered and destroyed it before the CWC took effect in December 1997. The OPCW has confirmed that the facility in question was destroyed.

However, the U.S. intelligence community (IC) has repeatedly reported that Tehran continues to operate a CW program. In 2000, John Lauder, then-director of the Director of Central Intelligence (DCI) Nonproliferation Center, testified before Congress that “We believe [Iran’s CW] program remains active despite Tehran's decision to ratify the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC). Iran has a large and growing CW production capacity and already has produced a number of CW agents, including nerve, blister, choking, and blood agents. We believe it possesses a stockpile of at least several hundred metric tons of weaponized and bulk agent." A 2002 CIA report to Congress reached similar conclusions. The 2011 edition of that report made more limited findings, but did assess that Iran “maintains the capability to produce [CW] agents and conducts research that may have offensive applications” and “continues to seek dual-use technologies that could advance its capability to produce CW agents.”

The 2011 report also notes that Tehran “is capable of weaponizing CW agents in a variety of delivery systems.” These options, according to open-source reports from Jane’s and other sources, may include artillery shells, mortar rounds, aerial bombs, mines, unmanned aerial vehicles, and even chemical warheads for Scud, Shahab, and cruise missiles.

Recent Developments

In 2018, after years of international quiet about Iran’s CW program, the U.S. made headlines by accusing Iran of seeking “Central Nervous System-Acting Chemicals” for offensive weapons. Ambassador Kenneth Ward, U.S. permanent representative to the OPCW, also said Tehran had repeatedly failed to fully disclose its CW activities to that organization. As examples, Ward claimed Iran had failed to disclose: its transfer of CW to Libya in the 1980s; all of its riot-control agents, some of which Tehran had marketed at defense expos; and its capability to fill chemical weapons production facilities.

Further, the U.S. Department of State stated in an April 2019 report that Iranian military-controlled facilities, Imam Hossein University (IHU) and Malek Ashtar University (MAU), have researched incapacitating chemical agents. Published Iranian articles have cited weaponizing applications of pharmaceutical-based agents (PBAs), including the powerful opioid fentanyl. The report added that IHU’s chemistry department had sought kilograms of medetomidine—an incapacitating sedative it has researched—from Chinese sellers. Nonproliferation analyst Peter Brookes of the Heritage Foundation has written that such PBAs “could also be furtively introduced into water, food, or agricultural systems, or could be aerosolized.”

Foreign Assistance

Foreign governments, including Russia and China, have provided indispensable aid to Iran’s chemical-weapons program. Such assistance has included production plants and equipment, technologies, and chemical-agent precursors.

For instance, as noted by Anthony Cordesman and Adam Seitz, “the [U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)] reported that Chinese entities were selling Iran chemical warfare–related chemicals between 1997 and 1998.” China also sold Iran 500 tons of phosphorus pentasulfide, a dual-use chemical that can be used to produce the VX nerve agent. In 2000, the aforementioned John Lauder, then director of the DCI Nonproliferation Center, testified before Congress that “Numerous Russian entities have been providing Iran with dual-use industrial chemicals, equipment, and chemical production technology that could be diverted to Tehran's offensive CW program.” Lauder cited as an example that in 1999, “Russian entities provided production technology, training, and expertise that Iran could use to create a more advanced and self-sufficient CW infrastructure.”

Other countries also assisted Iran’s CW program. As Cordesman and Seitz note, “The United States accused German firms of selling dual-use materials and technology to Iran during the 1980s.”

India also provided aid. “In 1989, the State Trading Company of India admitted that it had sold Iran over 60 tons of thionyl chloride (a nerve agent precursor) and that its supplier was planning to ship an additional 257 tons of the chemical to Iran.” In 1997, India also agreed to build an advanced chemical plant near Tehran.

Even an American company got in on the action, in violation of U.S. export-control laws. In 1991, the Maryland-based chemical manufacturer Alcolac pled guilty to indirectly selling 120 tons of the dual-use mustard gas–precursor thiodiglycol to Iran via the German company Colimex GmbH and Co.

That said, Iran has long sought to be able to develop CW indigenously. Director Lauder testified in 2000 that “Tehran's goals for its CW program for the past decade have been to expand its production capability and stockpile, reach self-sufficiency by acquiring the means to manufacture chemical production equipment and precursors, and diversify its CW arsenal by producing more sophisticated and lethal agents and munitions.”

Biological Weapons (BW)

A Cloud of Uncertainty

Iran ratified the Biological Weapons Convention in 1973, during the rule of the shah, and the Islamic Republic denies the existence of a BW program. However, determining the existence, size, and scope of Iran’s BW programs is harder than making such determinations regarding CW, nuclear-weapons, and missile programs.

As analysts Anthony Cordesman and Adam Seitz note, BW programs can easily be hidden because they require small-scale equipment and dual-use materials; such programs can be housed in medical, biotech, and research organizations and facilities, including universities; and BW agents are easier and less expensive to make than CW agents and nuclear materials. “The fact of the matter is that any nation with even modestly sophisticated biopharmaceutical industrial capabilities is capable of producing biological agents,” Cordesman and Seitz write. And Iran’s capabilities are more than modestly sophisticated—it enjoys one of the larger biotech sectors in the developing world.

Worse still, keeping dual-use equipment out of Tehran’s hands is difficult because “the steady expansion of civil biotechnology, food processing, and pharmaceutical activities makes dual-use equipment commercially available that can be used to produce even the most advanced biological agents and a combination of Iran’s use of covert purchasing networks and steadily weakening controls – particularly over used and surplus equipment – have further weakened already weak export control efforts.”

Finally, the line between defensive and offensive BW programs is very unclear, for developing defenses against a given biological weapon requires possessing it.

Consequently, as Cordesman and Seitz assert, it is difficult to know what actual BW work Iran is doing, as opposed to its BW capabilities.

Possible Past and Ongoing BW Efforts

As with CW, the U.S. has suspected that Iran first developed a BW program during its war with Iraq from 1980 to 1988. In 1982, U.S. government officials began holding briefings claiming Iran had imported cultures from Europe and had begun working to make mycotoxins, simple biological agents, at different research facilities. Experts believed the BW program was controlled by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

A blatant indicator of the Iranian government’s intention to develop BW is its recruitment of scientists who worked on the Soviet Union’s germ-warfare program. Two of the scientists told the New York Times that Tehran outright asked them to assist Iran in producing BW.

During the 1980s and 1990s, reports continued to emerge of Iranian procurement of BW-suitable technology and materials—fungus strains from Canada and the Netherlands in 1989; of advanced BW technology from Switzerland and containment equipment and technology from Germany in 1993; dual-use technology from India and China in 1996; and so forth. Leading centers for biotech and medical research—and therefore likely candidates for BW research and development—are the Louis Pasteur Institute, the National Research Center of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (NRCGEB), and the Razi Institute for Serum and Vaccines. The Nuclear Threat Initiative notes that the seemingly benign activities undertaken by those institutes have dual-use applications. “For example, the NRCGEB's expertise in recombinant DNA technologies, genetic engineering, and DNA vaccine production could conceivably be utilized to research methods for increasing the virulence or resistance of select pathogens, and equipment for mass-producing vaccines and antiserums at the Pasteur Institute could be utilized to mass-produce biological weapons as well.”

Bottom-Line U.S. Government Assessments

The U.S. government has long assessed that Iran enjoys BW-producing capabilities at the very least, and is or may be operating a BW program itself.

For example, in 1996, the CIA concluded that “Iran holds some stocks of biological agents and weapons. Tehran probably has investigated both toxins and live organisms as biological warfare agents. Iran has the technical infrastructure to support a significant biological weapons program with little foreign assistance.”

In 2000, DCI Nonproliferation Center Director John Lauder testified to Congress that “Iran is pursuing both civilian biotech activities and a biological warfare (BW) program,” that its BW program was then “in the late stages of research and development,” and that Iran “already holds some stocks of BW agents and weapons.”

More recent reports on Iran’s BW pursuits have reached more tentative conclusions regarding the status of Iran’s BW program. In 2011, for example, the director of national intelligence stated that “Iran probably has the capability to produce some biological warfare (BW) agents for offensive purposes, if it made the decision to do so. We assess that Iran has previously conducted offensive BW agent research and development. Iran continues to seek dual-use technologies that could be used for BW."

Next Policy Steps

The Trump administration has rightly called out Iran for its continuing CW activities and non-disclosure of such activities to the OPCW. The U.S. should also engage in vigorous diplomacy to encourage foreign governments to pay more attention to Iran’s CW program. Further, if Washington has intelligence on Iranian CW sites, it should consider seeking a “challenge inspection” of suspected Iranian CW program sites by the OPCW, pursuant to the CWC, and ask other countries to join the U.S. in this request. No state has ever requested a challenge inspection, so this unprecedented step would underscore the CW danger Iran poses

The U.S. intelligence community should also issue updated reporting on Iran’s BW pursuits, if only to increase awareness of this issue among U.S. and international policy-makers. This reporting should, to the extent possible, distinguish Tehran’s BW capabilities from any active measures to produce or to support production of BW.

Finally, Washington should better integrate Iran’s CW and BW threats into America’s holistic policy on Iran. For example, the Trump administration has issued 12 demands of the Iranian regime as prerequisites for the end of U.S. sanctions and restoration of normal diplomatic relations with Iran. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated the demands cover the “scope of the malign behavior of Iran,” but they do not. The U.S. should issue a 13th demand: a full accounting and dismantlement of Tehran’s CW and BW programs.

As the Syrian regime has shown in recent years, CW fall under the category of weapons of mass destruction for a reason—because they can massively destroy human lives. The same holds true for BW. It is past time for the U.S. and other responsible international actors to act with seriousness to ensure that Iran, one of the world’s worst rogue regimes, cannot use or threaten the use of such weapons to advance its malign agenda.

CLINTON FOUNDATION FOLDS

CLINTON FOUNDATION FOLDS!

By Curtis Dahlgren  June 29, 2019

Have you wondered why the Clinton Foundation folded so suddenly after Hillary was no longer in a position of influence? Perhaps this summary will provide some insight?

From their 2014 990 Tax Form; they list 486 employees (line 5)!

It took 486 people who are paid $34.8 million and $91.3 million in fees and expenses, to give away $5.1 MILLION

The real heart of the Clintons can be seen here. Staggering but not surprising. These figures are from an official copy of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation for the tax year 2014. The copy of the tax return is from the National Center for Charitable Statistics web site http://nccs.urban.org/ You can obtain the latest tax return on any charitable organization there.

The Clinton Foundation: Number of Employees (line 5) 486

Total revenue (line 12): $177,804,612.00

Total grants to charity (line 13) $5,160,385.00 (this is less than 3%)

Total expenses of $91,281,145.00

Expenses include:

Salaries (line 15) $34,838,106.00

Fund raising fees (line 16a) $850,803.00

Other expenses (line 17) $50,431,851.00 HUH??????

Travel: $8,000,000.00

Note: $20 Million in Travel & Meetings to decide who gets the $5.160 Million in Charity ?

Meetings: $12,000,000.00

Net assets/fund balances (line 22) $332,471,349.00... So it required 486 people, who were paid $34.8 million, plus $91.3 million in fees and expenses, to give away $5.1 MILLION!

And they call this a CHARITY?

(It is alleged that this is one of the greatest white-collar crimes ever committed. And just think –

one of the participants was a former president and one (gasp!) wanted to be elected president of the United States.

If justice was truly served they would both be in prison.

[Wonder who the "employees" were? They only had one kid.]

My Customers Don’t Pay Trump’s Tariffs Brian Tedesco Wall Street Journal 7-1-19

My Customers Don’t Pay Trump’s Tariffs

Brian Tedesco  Wall Street Journal   7-1-19

When President Trump imposed 25% import tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods, economists and trade pundits said the levies would pass through to U.S. consumers. As the owner of a consumer-electronics company that sources 90% of our products from China, I have a different perspective.

Most American companies won’t roll over and pay 25% more for a product. They will demand lower prices from their Chinese factory sales representative.

That’s what my purchasing department did. The moment the tariffs went into effect, we were on the phone with our Chinese factories, demanding price adjustments on our orders. Every single factory conceded.

My company is established but it’s not enormous. So why were the Chinese factories willing to accommodate our demand for lower prices?

First, pressure in the raw-materials supply chain. Standard terms in China are a 30% deposit with the purchase order and 70% or balance due upon shipment. To meet the manufacturing schedule, the Chinese factories we work with must purchase raw materials several months in advance of our order and deposit. They need to deliver to recoup the material expenses and overhead that preceded our order.

If a factory refuses our request for a price concession and we walk away, my company loses the 30% deposit—5 percentage points more than we stood to pay because the tariff. Meanwhile, the factory is saddled with an abundance of raw materials and any finished goods sitting on the factory floor. In China’s highly competitive market, it doesn’t take long to find a different factory willing to absorb the tariff.

Chinese factories also don’t want us to walk away because then they will miss their monthly shipping quotas. For the Chinese government, shipping quotas are more important than profitability. When a factory’s managers realize that they must reduce prices to maintain output levels, Beijing comes to the rescue with subsidies to prop up their margins.

American purchasing departments are well aware of China’s subsidy system, and it gives them significant leverage. My company secured an 18% price reduction from our Chinese supplier on open and future orders for as long the current tariffs are in effect. That means the bulk of the new tariffs are absorbed by the factory or the Chinese government.

Let’s break it down in dollars. Let’s say before the tariffs hit, our cost for each Bluetooth speaker was $10. After renegotiating the terms, we pay $8.20 per unit. We still pay the 25% tariff, but now it applies to the revised cost of $8.20, which puts my total cost per unit at $10.25. That extra 25 cents is far from the $2.50 that the pundits claim passes on to consumers.

Experts underestimate the leverage American companies wield in the trade conflict with China. We understand that, in the game of chicken between buyer and seller, the threat of pulling our orders puts significant pressure China’s manufacturers—and the Chinese government. Of course, certain industries and companies can exert more leverage than others. But if my purchasing department can win significant price concessions, it’s safe to assume others can as well.
